Shlomi Amsalem’s photo book “On the Seventh Day” was launched at UN Headquarters in New York, at an event held by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attended by ambassadors and senior representatives.
The book documents October 7 and Israel’s long road since. The launch took place against growing attempts on the international stage to deny what happened that day, and set first-hand photographic testimony before the world’s representatives.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, presented the book as Israel’s response to denial. As time passes, he said, the attempt to erase memory grows stronger — and the documented facts are the answer to it.
Shlomi asked readers to look for something beyond documentation: “My hope is that when you open this book, you will find more than photographs.” What he wants to convey, he said, is what we all share as human beings, and the hope that truth and understanding will pave the way to peace.
